The Governors' main roles include:
- To provide strategic direction for the school
- To ensure accountability
- Determining how the school's budget is spent
- Setting an outline of standards for pupils' behaviour and discipline
- Making sure school buildings are safe
- Setting and/or monitoring the school's aims and policies, including collective worship
- Hearing appeals and grievances
The full governing body meets at least once each term.
In addition, we have committees for Business (finance & personnel), Premises, and Pay and Appraisal.
If you would like to contact the Chair of Governors, please telephone the school office on 01935 425447 and ask for Mrs N Thurlow (Clerk to Governors).

Governor News
Our dedicated Chair of Governors Colin Johnson has been awarded an MBE for services to education.
We are delighted that Mr Johnson has been given this honour in recognition of his role as Chairman of Oaklands Primary School and all of the fantastic work he has put in over the years. Mr Johnson MBE, was instrumental in the bid for our school building and remains heavily involved in school life.
Mr Johnson’s mantra has always been that all children deserve a good school to learn in - a building that is safe, secure and designed around children's needs where teaching is exemplary and learning is fun. Mr Johnson has supported this catchment area as Chair of Governors for over 20 years. He has also supported other schools sharing his expertise.
