Governors

The Role of the Governing Body at Oaklands

Our school governing board is responsible for working with the school to ensure that it delivers a good quality education. The Headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school and staff.

The Governors' main roles include:

  • To provide strategic direction for the school
  • To ensure accountability
  • Determining how the school's budget is spent
  • Setting an outline of standards for pupils' behaviour and discipline
  • Making sure school buildings are safe
  • Setting and/or monitoring the school's aims and policies, including collective worship
  • Hearing appeals and grievances

The full governing body meets at least once each term.

In addition, we have committees for Business (finance & personnel), Premises, and Pay and Appraisal.

If you would like to contact the Chair of Governors, please telephone the school office on 01935 425447 and ask for Mrs N Thurlow (Clerk to Governors).
