Welcome to Year 6!
Year 6 is always a busy year as we learn lots of new skills to take us through into secondary school. We also recap and review all of our learning from Key Stage 2 and prepare ourselves for transition into our Key Stage 3 journey.
Along the way we have lots of fun with various trips and visitors to support our learning, and this is all topped with our fantastic residential to Kilve Court in the summer term.
Homework is an important part of growing independence and it is an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills that have been learnt at school.
In Year 6, English and Maths homework is set on a Friday on GoogleClassrooms and MyMaths and is due in on the following Thursday. These are small tasks, designed to consolidate the learning and promote organisational skills in advance of the demanding secondary school schedule.
Spellings are taught in class and then sent out weekly to learn at home. Regular practise, recognising letter patterns and understanding the word meanings are all key to learning and becoming improved spellers.
