Phonics is a way of teaching reading and writing where your child is taught to read and write letters or groups of letters by saying the sound(s) they represent. Children can then start to read words by blending the sounds together to make a word, and writing them by segmenting.
At Oaklands we teach phonics every day. Your child will come home with a pack which shows which sounds we have learned. Please help them to practise reading and writing them.
