Boys' Football Finals
We were delighted to be able to take the boys' football team to the ESFA Under-11 Somerset County Finals, which took place at Strode College today.
This 7-a-side tournament included primary schools from all over Somerset, and they brought with them some very tough competition.
Warmed by the morning sun, our team had a promising start, winning their first game and continuing to play brilliant football throughout the day. Our last match was a real battle and every single player was so determined to win; they showed passion and perseverance and were really unlucky not to score, despite many saved shots on goal.
The boys' team spirit was infectious and the parents who came to watch and support were a real asset, cheering the boys on and keeping them supplied with food!
The other highlight of the day was the return of Mr W, who volunteered on his day off to help coach the boys through the tournament!
Scores:
V Peasedown St John – Won 1-0
V Brookside – Lost 2-0
V Danesfield – Drew 1-1
V St Mary’s – Drew 1-1
V High Down Junior – Lost 1-0 (in the last second of the game)
Overall, they were 5th in their group. The team deserved to be placed higher, but that’s football for you!
Many thanks to Mr W and to the parents who came to support us!
