Sports Premium
We believe that physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also promotes correct physical growth and development. Exercise has a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional stability and interaction with others. Through sport and other physical activities our children will learn about their responsibilities both as individuals and members of groups and teams. They learn to co-operate and to compete fairly, understanding their own and other’s roles.
What is the Sports Premium?
The Sport Premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. Schools receive funding to improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils, and are free to choose the best way of using the money. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
The School Games Mark is a government-led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. We are proud holders of The Platinum Mark, the highest Mark achievable, awarded to schools that have met the standard for the Gold Mark in the previous four years.
